Is my coach auditioning for his next chapter? John Harbaugh is being teamed with Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison as pre-game analysts for the biggest game of the year. I’m sure he will be asked to chime in on the whole DeflateGate fiasco. It seems as though he has practiced his politically correct statements concerning the incident so he won’t come off as throwing the Pats under the bus.
But I don’t want that, I don’t want his unbiased opinion on either team. I want to hear my Coach talk about my team handling whoever else. Even though he sometimes drives me crazy when he gets defensive when asked about his questionable decisions and at worse dismissive of valid points brought up during our team pressers.
This makes me wonder “What the heck is going on?” Don’t try to ease me into a possible career transition as an in-studio NFL analyst. Harbs has gone straight up Hollywood in the course of two weeks while I’ve barely gotten over losing the Divisional Playoff game (although that wound was reopened when I found out the about the deflated footballs by the cheaters). If he has on a real Brooks Brothers suit instead of the grey sports coat I’ve become accustomed to seeing outside of the Under Armour Performance Center, then I know someone is preparing to turn the page from coaching to following the footsteps of Tony Dungy and Bill Cowher – maybe not this year but possibly the 5-yr plan.
As a Ravens fan, I’m not ready. I know he makes me angry when he goes on 4th down instead of brining in Tucker and when he won’t acknowledge areas of weakness, but at his age, I planned on seeing Harbs lead the Ravens until I got tired of him. Not him possibly testing the waters for other opportunities. I hope I’m overreacting because I swear I’m not even ready to think about it…
