Sunday’s game against the Steelers is a must win game. I can’t believe that a week 9 NFL game is almost equivalent to a playoff game but in this case, it is. In the past the deciding divisional games for the AFC North were later in the season, usually coming down to the last two to three weeks. This our division games were played in weeks 1 through 3 and weeks 8 and 9. Sure we play Cleveland again in week 16 but I can’t imagine that game being anything more than a spoiler, after all its still just Cleveland.
Throw in the recent injuries to Jimmy Smith, Owen Daniel and even Morgan Cox and things are downright scary. Lardarius Webb just worked off the rust from barely playing since pre-season to the point where he was no longer the weak defender. Now everybody’s throwing on Dominique Franks who unfortunately got beat in the key 4th quarter play against Cincy. Our receiving corps is pretty much Steve Smith with the occasional pass interference call for passes to Torrey Smith. Marlon Brown has seen little playing time this season and my nickname for Jacoby Jones’ is no longer Sweet Pea, its Butterfingers.
Add in the fact that somebody in Pittsburgh lit a serious fire under the Steelers. Either that or they didn’t get the memo about Indy’s defense and how wonderful Andrew Luck is because they surprised everybody, especially the Colts last week. The last thing we need in our division is a split series with Steelers after being swept by the Bengals.
So again, this is a must win game if the Ravens want a chance to get to the playoffs.
